A new tribute album to the late Adam Schlesinger is out today.
The compilation, titled Saving for a Custom Van, consists of a variety of artists covering songs from Schlesinger's many projects, including his bands Fountains of Wayne and Ivy, as well as his work in the film and TV world with Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Josie and the Pussycats, That Thing You Do! and Music and Lyrics.
For example, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star and creator Rachel Bloom recorded her take on the signature Fountains of Wayne hit "Stacy's Mom." Other artists featured on the album include Schlesinger's FoW band mate Jody Porter, Sarah Silverman, Motion City Soundtrack, Nada Surf, Tanya Donelly, and Letters to Cleo's Kay Hanley.
You can download Saving for a Custom Van now exclusively via Bandcamp. Proceeds will benefit the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund.
Schlesinger died of COVID-19 complications in April. He was 52.
