Tool’s ‘Fear Inoculum’ debuts at #1 on the ‘Billboard’ 200

RCA RecordsTool's fans are most definitely glad to see them back.

Fear Inoculum, the band's first album in 13 years, has debuted in the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 all-genre albums chart.  Released August 30, the album moved 270,000 equivalent units its first week, according to Nielsen Music figures reported by Billboard.  Of those, 248,000 were physical album sales.

Those numbers make Fear Inoculum the biggest-selling rock album in the U.S. since Dave Matthews Band's Come Tomorrow, which sold 292,000 equivalent units for the week ending June 23, 2018.

However, Come Tomorrow's numbers were bolstered by a concert ticket-album redemption promotion, whereas Tool had no such help.  Also, Fear Inoculum's available only as a digital download or an elaborate, limited-edition CD package that also functions as an HD video screen, complete with exclusive video footage and a 36-page booklet.  When you consider the package sold for around fifty bucks, it makes Tool's CD sales numbers even more impressive.

Fear Inoculum is Tool's third number-one album, following 2006's 10,000 Days and their 2001 release, Lateralus.

Twenty One Pilots frontman Tyler Joseph’s gonna be a new dad

Jenna Black and Tyler Joseph; Gregg DeGuire/WireImageCongratulations are in order for Tyler Joseph.  The Twenty One Pilots frontman announced from the stage Saturday at Lollapalooza Berlin that he's going to be a new dad.

Joseph had help from his wife, Jenna Black, who joined him on stage to show off her baby bump.

"I wanna pause the show for just a second, and I wanna bring a couple people out on stage, okay?" Joseph told the crowd during a pause in the show, as captured by fan-recorded video

Onto the stage walked not two people, but Jenna alone, both she and her husband beaming as the crowd cheered and Tyler revealed, "I know I said I'm bringing a couple people onstage, and that's two."

Joseph knelt and kissed his wife's baby bump before escorting her off of the stage, then returned to launch into a performance of "Ride," from Blurryface.

This will be Tyler and Jenna's first child together.  They were married in March of 2015.

Billie Eilish teases she may ditch the baggy clothes when she turns 18

Darkroom/Interscope RecordsBillie Eilish has a reputation for being extremely candid about how she wants the media -- and her fans -- to treat her body.  However, once she turns 18, she plans on changing up her style.

Elle reports that Eilish teased that she'll be ditching the baggy clothes once she blows out her birthday candles.  More specifically, she says she wants to start showing a little more skin.

“I’m gonna be a woman. I wanna show my body,” she mused to the magazine, "What if I wanna make a video where I wanna look desirable?"

Billie's 18th birthday is, coincidentally, December 18th.

Eilish has been conscious of the fact that she's a minor and states she is aware of how the media can treat young women.  The 17-year-old "Bad Guy" singer repeatedly stated she deliberately wears baggy clothes to hide her figure in order to prevent the media, and her fans, from sexualizing her.

In her interview with Elle, Eilish admitted that some of her fans might lose respect for her once she bares a little skin.  She chalks that up to a double standard that punishes women for showing the same amount of skin a man could without consequence.

Eilish's comments come just one week after she criticized Nylon Germany for featuring an altered photo of her on its cover that made her appear shirtless, and bald, with Eilish saying the magazine did it without her consent.

Wednesday, Billie dropped the decidedly unglamorous video for "All the good girls go to hell," the latest single from her debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?

Muse frontman Matt Bellamy ties the knot

Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagicMuse lead singer Matt Bellamy married model Elle Evans on Saturday in a private ceremony.

Both the 41-year-old frontman and his 29-year-old bride posted photos of the two walking down the aisle on their Instagram accounts, with the caption, "Mr. & Mrs. Bellamy."

Saturday's ceremony came about a year-and-a-half after the couple got engaged.

"Just a few days after my birthday, on the most romantic holiday of our lives, the man of my dreams asked me to marry him!" Evans wrote at the time, just two days before Christmas in 2017. "After tears of joy, gasps of shock, and a split second of disbelief, of course, I said YES!"

Saturday's ceremony took place as Muse takes a break from their world tour in support of their eighth studio album, Simulation Theory.  The tour resumes next month in Norway.

Bellamy was engaged twice prior, including once to actress Kate Hudson, with whom he shares an 8-year-old son, Bingham.

The Raconteurs score their first Billboard 200 #1 album with ‘Help Us Stranger’

Third Man RecordsThe Raconteurs have just scored their first Billboard 200 #1 album with Help Us Stranger.

Bouyed by the success of the singles “Sunday Driver,” “Now That You’re Gone” and “Help Me Stranger,” Help Us Stranger moved 88,000 equivalent album units for the week ending June 27, more than 84,000 of which were pure album sales.

White released the album via his Third Man Records, with vinyl album sales accounting for 25,000 units sold -- no surprise, considering how much of a vinyl booster White is. Even so, Billboard reports that's the largest single-week number for vinyl sales in 2019 and the sixth-largest since 1991, when Nielsen Music began tracking sales data.

Help Us Stranger is the first chart-topping album for The Raconteurs, but its lead singer Jack White's fourth time atop the Billboard 200 -- the previous three trips to number one were as a solo artist.

The Raconteurs have cracked the top ten before, with 2006's Broken Boy Soldiers and 2008's Consolers of the Lonely.

The Raconteurs kick off their tour Thursday in Aspen, Colorado, with North American dates scheduled into November.

Tom Petty’s ex, Soundgarden and more file first suit over UMG master recordings fire

Erika Goldring/WireImageTwo weeks after Universal Music Group revealed a devastating storage facility fire in 2008 had destroyed thousands of irreplaceable master tapes from hundreds of musicians, we've got our first lawsuit.

The late Tom Petty's ex-wife, Jane Petty, along with Soundgarden, Hole, Americana singer/songwriter Steve Earle and the estate of the late Tupac Shakur are all plaintiffs in the suit, filed Friday in federal court in Los Angeles.

The suit makes several accusations against UMG, not the least of which is failing to disclose to the affected artists until two weeks ago that the 2008 fire had destroyed their master recordings.  It also declares UMG received an insurance settlement of $150 million, which they failed to disclose or share with the affected artists, and accuses the music giant of failing to take necessary steps to prevent the fire in the first place.

The plaintiffs are asking for monetary damages of more than $100 million.

Master recordings are the original recordings from which copies are made to sell and distribute.  Over half a century's worth of masters were lost in the UMG fire from artists including Ray Charles, Nirvana, The Eagles, Elton John, The Police, Guns N' Roses, Ella Fitzgerald, Nine Inch Nails, Miles Davis and many others.

Friday's lawsuit is the first of many lawsuits expected to be filed in the wake of UMG's admission.
