Badflower’s Josh Katz reflects on lyrics of “Ghost” after breakout year

Credit: Tyler ShieldsFollowing a breakout year, Badflower frontman Josh Katz is reflecting on the lyrics of the band's hit single "Ghost."

"Ghost," a raw, unflinching portrait of someone attempting suicide, ends with the line "This life is overwhelming and I'm ready for the next one." But in an Instagram post, Katz writes that those lyrics "doesn't make sense" to him anymore.

"The more open I've been about my mental health, the more I've allowed it to fuel my art instead of destroy it, the more love and kindness I've received in response," Katz explains.

"Ghost," which reached number two on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart, will appear on Badflower's upcoming debut album, OK, I'm Sick, due out February 22.

"2018 has been the most incredible journey for all of us, both internally and externally," Katz writes. "I feel very lucky to be able to say - I cannot wait to see what happens in 2019."
