Beck teamed up with a Beatle Wednesday night in honor of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, aka PETA. At the animal rights organization's 35th anniversary party in Los Angeles, Beck joined Paul McCartney to perform The Beatles' "Drive My Car" and "I've Just Seen a Face," according to recaps posted at PETA.org. A few fan-recorded clips of Beck's performance with McCartney have been posted on YouTube.
Following the gala, McCartney posted a message on his Facebook, thanking "Beck and everyone else who helped us celebrate #PETA35 in Hollywood last night!" He also quipped in the note, "Sorry we didn't get around to playing 'Beck in the USSR,' 'Get Beck' or 'Paperbeck Writer.'"
The bash was hosted by Angelica Huston and Pamela Anderson, and also featured the presentation of awards to various celebs and activists who have for their contributions to specific animal-rights issues. Among the evening's honorees was Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee. Other musicians who attended the party included Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler, Rob Zombie, No Doubt's Tony Kanal, and Moby.
