Post Malone proved his rock cred with his charity Nirvana tribute in April. As it turns out, he may have been practicing for the set with Sublime with Rome.
As frontman Rome Ramirez tells ABC Audio, Sublime with Rome rehearsed a few Nirvana songs with Post when they played the part of his backing band during the "Circles" singer's intimate Bud Light Dive Bar show in New York City last summer.
"When we got together, we played pretty much probably 30 minutes of just nothing but Nirvana," Ramirez recalls, adding that Post was keen to practice specific songs, too.
"He wanted to hit this one, he was, like, 'Yo, do you know this one, do you know this one?'" Ramirez explains.
To then see Post's worldwide stream several months later was, as Ramirez puts it, a "trip."
"I was like, 'Holy s***, we were just practicing that," he says.
Ramirez adds that he thought the performance was "so cool" and "did every '90s kid justice."
"I saw that and I reached to him," he says. "I was, like, 'Bro, that's so fire. You do it right.'"
