Billie Joe Armstrong wasn't happy with this year's MTV Video Music Awards, which were held over the weekend. On Twitter, the Green Day frontman criticized the VMAs for its lack of young rock bands.
"Just watched VMAs. Seriously @MTV not a single young rock n roll band?" Armstrong wrote.
While Armstrong didn't name any artists he thought should've played on the broadcast, or been nominated for VMAs, he said "there [are] great up and coming rock bands headlining festivals AND on social media."
"What the hell," Armstrong concluded.
Fall Out Boy's video for "Uma Thurman" won the Best Rock Video award at this year's VMAs, beating out videos from Arctic Monkeys, WALK THE MOON, Hozier and Florence + the Machine. Twenty One Pilots performed during the show alongside rapper A$AP Rocky.
