Black Sabbath Accepts Lifetime Achievement Honor at Ivor Novello Awards

Image Courtesy of Vertigo/RepublicBlack Sabbath was honored with the Lifetime Achievement prize at the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards, held Thursday in London. Accepting the award, guitarist Tony Iommi confirmed that Black Sabbath will embark on a "final tour" next year, the BBC reports.

While frontman Ozzy Osbourne was absent from the ceremony, Iommi was joined by bassist Geezer Butler, and, surprisingly, drummer Bill Ward. Ward and Ozzy have recently been involved in a public spat that began when Ward asked for an apology from Ozzy over the way he and the rest of Black Sabbath have treated him. Ozzy responded by refusing to apologize and reiterating that he believes that Ward was physically unfit to join Black Sabbath on their recent tours.

Other winners of Ivor Novellos include Hozier, who took home the Best Song Musically and Lyrically prize for "Take Me to Church," and Bombay Bicycle Club, whose record So Long, See You Tomorrow won Best Album.
