ABC/Paula LoboBlink-182 has been working on a new album, the follow-up to 2016's California, and they've apparently been working very hard. Speaking to Hollywire, drummer Travis Barker says the punk trio has "over 40 songs recorded" for the effort.
"We've never recorded that many songs for an album," Barker says.
The next step in the process, Barker explains, is to narrow down those 40 songs to 10 or 12 "bangers."
"Our expectations for this album are crazy," he says. "I think we're in a place where we don't really wanna repeat ourselves. We've done this for so long, we just want the absolute best."
Meanwhile, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus tells NME that the new album is "very different" from -- and "a lot more aggressive" than -- California.
"It's darker in theme and tone," Hoppus says.
New Blink-182 music is expected to arrive before they play the 25th anniversary Warped Tour concert this June in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
