Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus details “really cool” Chainsmokers collaboration

ABC/Paula LoboIn addition to working on a new album, Blink-182 recently teamed up with hit-making DJ duo The Chainsmokers for a new song. Speaking with ABC Radio, bassist/vocalist Mark Hoppus shares a few details about the collaboration.

"They were kind enough to invite us into their studio," Hoppus explains. "We had been friends with them for awhile, and they had said, 'Oh, we should work on a song together!'"

"We finally had our schedules align and went into the studio on a rainy day in Los Angeles and came up with the foundation for a really cool song," he continues. "I still have to sing more on it, but I think it will be really cool."

As for when and where the track will pop up, Hoppus says that ball's in The Chainsmokers' court.

"The song that we did with Chainsmokers would be for their album," Hoppus shares.

The Chainsmokers famously name checked Blink-182 in their #1 hit "Closer," with the lyric, "Stay and play that Blink-182 song/That we beat to death in Tucson."

Meanwhile, new Blink music, the follow-up to 2016's California, is expected to arrive in the summer.
