While some have dubbed the verdict in the "Blurred Lines" copyright infringement case to be a blow to artistic freedom, The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers says he agrees with the decision "150 per cent" and that there "are so many bands who should get sued."
"I'm so sick of hearing people steal," Flowers tells NME. "I hate it. I hear it all the time, but I'm not gonna tell you which bands. I won't because I don't wanna start a whole thing."
A Los Angeles jury ruled that "Blurred Lines," written by Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I., improperly borrowed from Marvin Gaye's 1977 hit "Got to Give It Up," awarding the family of the late soul singer $7.3 million dollars for the copyright infringement.
As for any new, presumably not-stolen music from The Killers, Flowers says there will indeed be a followup to the band's 2012 album Battle Born since he thinks that record "wasn't good enough" and "we all know it."
"Once [the band members] all get on the same page, it'll work," Flowers says. In the meantime, Flowers' second solo album, The Desired Effect, will be released on May 19.
