Credit: Sherwin LainezPanic! at the Disco will kick off a massive arena tour tonight in Uncasville, Connecticut. The outing is the band's first headlining run in support of their new album Death of a Bachelor, though they spent last summer touring behind it while opening for Weezer.
"The Weezer tour was so amazing for me to be able to be a part of that," Panic! frontman Brendon Urie tells ABC Radio. "Our production, I thought, was really great, so I wanna take that and blow it 10 times crazier."
Urie is no stranger to crazy production ideas -- prior to the Weezer trek, he said he wanted to perform will being literally on fire. He didn't get to do that, but that hasn't stopped him from coming up with even more insane proposals, though they may have similarly been rejected for safety concerns.
"There's a couple things I still wanna do that have gotten shot down so fast," Urie says. "Like, I seriously mentioned it, and like five minutes later, I got an email, 'No, that's not gonna happen.' I don't know if my ideas are really the ones that are conducive for, like, a healthy show, 'cause I just wanna do the craziest stuff."
"Whether or not it puts me in danger, that's secondary," he adds. "I just wanna make a good show."
Urie promises the shows will be "unreal," especially when Panic! headlines New York City's Madison Square Garden for the first time in their career on March 2.
"I relate [MSG] to Song Remains the Same, Led Zeppelin played there," Urie says. "Billy Joel, Guns N' Roses, you just have the biggest people, and some of my favorite artists have all played there, it's just legendary. So this is gonna be just so crazy, the most awesome show ever."
