Credit: James Minchin Brian Burton, a.k.a. Danger Mouse, is starting his own imprint in collaboration with Columbia Records called 30th Century Records. The label will release music from artists that Burton personally signs, including the band Autolux, whose new album will be the first on 30th Century Records.
Along with being a member of the bands Broken Bells -- formed with The Shins' James Mercer -- and Gnarls Barkley, Burton is known as a producer. He's worked with Gorillaz, Beck and U2, plus he produced The Black Keys hit single "Tighten Up" and their albums Attack & Release, El Camino and Turn Blue. He also collaborated with Jack White on Rome, an album inspired by spaghetti western films.
In related news, Billboard reports that Burton will produce Red Hot Chili Peppers' new album. Chili Peppers bassist Flea previously described the band's forthcoming 11th album as "super danceable," which is certainly in Burton's wheelhouse.
30th Century Records will launch in the fall.
