The "California" alt-rockers have returned with a new track called "Balisong," which you can download now via digital outlets. It's the first release from the band since they went on hiatus 11 years ago, following the release of 2008's Raise the Dead.
"We feel like we're returning home," says frontman Alex Greenwald in a statement. "The boys in Phantom Planet are my brothers, and we figured it was time for a full-fledged family reunion."
More new music is apparently in the works, as Phantom Planet has been in the studio. They're also playing a trio of Southern California dates -- taking place May 7 in San Diego, May in Los Angeles and May 11 in Santa Ana -- as well as the Hop Jam Festival in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
