"Let me be the 1st to clear up Volta rumors," he writes on Twitter. "Sorry it's not gonna happen."
Bixler-Zavala says that he and former Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López instead are continuing to work with their new band, Antemasque. The Mars Volta reunion rumors began when Antemasque canceled their European tour.
"We are focused on a 2nd & 3rd @ANTEMASQUE record," Bixler-Zavala writes. Antemasque released their self-titled debut, which featured contributions from Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, in 2014.
The Mars Volta broke up following the release of their 2012 album Noctourniquet. This year marks the 10th anniversary of their breakthrough album, 2005's Frances the Mute, which featured the single "The Widow."
