Chris Cornell's collaboration with Zac Brown Band has officially become a crossover hit. The country group's "Heavy Is the Head," featuring the Soundgarden frontman's vocals, has hit number one on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs.
With "Heavy Is the Head," Zac Brown Band becomes just the second act to earn number-one singles on Mainstream Rock Songs and Billboard's Country Airplay chart. The only other band to accomplish that feat is Bon Jovi, who scored number ones with "Livin' On a Prayer" and "Keep the Faith" on Mainstream Rock Songs, and "Who Says You Can't Go Home" on Country Airplay.
Meanwhile, AWOLNATION notched their first number-one hit on Billboard's Alternative Songs with "Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)." The lead single from the band's sophomore album, Run, dethroned Mumford & Sons' "Believe."
AWOLNATION previously scored top-five hits on Alternative Songs with "Not Your Fault" and "Sail."
