Chris Cornell to Appear at Dalai Lama’s 80th Birthday Celebration

42 WestChris Cornell will make an appearance at the Dalai Lama's 80th birthday celebration, which will be held July 4 at Rancho Los Lomas in Silverado, California, according to Rolling Stone.  The Soundgarden frontman will be joined at the event by actor Forest Whitaker, singer and rapper Aloe Blacc and former 4 Non Blondes frontwoman Linda Perry.

Tickets to the July 4 event are available now at PeakMind.org.  It will also be streamed live starting at 1:30 p.m. PT on the Dalai Lama's website.

Perhaps Cornell will perform a song from his forthcoming solo album, which has a name that the Dalai Lama would probably approve of: Higher Truth.  Cornell will be embarking on an acoustic tour in support of Higher Truth starting September 17 in Phoenix.

While the celebration will be held on July 4, the Dalai Lama's actual birthday is on Monday, July 6.  That day will be celebrated with the release of Songs of Tibet II, a compilation album featuring contributions from Lorde and Of Monsters and Men.
