Coheed and Cambria's non-conceptual experiment with their new album, The Color Before the Sun, appears to be a success. The album, Coheed's first to not continue the Amory Wars concept of the band's previous seven albums, has debuted at number 10 on the Billboard 200, with 32,000 equivalent album units sold in its first week.
The Color Before the Sun now gives Coheed and Cambria six straight top-10 albums on the Billboard 200, a streak that dates back to 2005's Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume One: From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness, which featured the singles "Welcome Home" and "The Suffering."
In other Coheed and Cambria news, the band is teasing a "major announcement" on their website. The announcement will be revealed tomorrow, October 27, at 10 a.m. ET.
Coheed and Cambria is currently on tour through North America in support of The Color Before the Sun.
