Coldplay’s Chris Martin to Curate Global Citizen Festival for the Next 15 Years

Image Courtesy of Atlantic RecordsAfter three years of being held in New York City's Central Park, the Global Citizen Festival will literally be going global. For each of the next 15 years, the Global Citizen Festival will be held in a different country with a lineup curated by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.

"I, and we as a band, are so excited to be working with Global Citizen," says Martin in a statement. "They are passionate about putting equality, fairness and compassion into the world, and improving the quality of life for millions of people around the world whose needs are sometimes overlooked. We are joining their cause because we believe in it, and in them, very much."

The 15-year campaign corresponds with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to end extreme poverty by 2030.

Global Citizen's 2015 events include Global Citizen 2015 Earth Day, held April 18 at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., the Global Citizen G7 Summit Event, taking place June 7 in Bavaria, Germany, and the 2015 Global Citizen Festival, to be held September 26 in Central Park.

The lineups for these events will be announced later this year. Bands that have played the previous Global Citizen Festivals include Foo Fighters, No Doubt, fun., The Black Keys, Kings of Leon and Band of Horses.
