Credit: Linda BrownleeTalking about giving your all for the audience. Damon Albarn had to be carried off the stage by security after refusing to end his set at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark over the weekend, NME reports.
The Blur and Gorillaz singer had been performing with his Africa Express project in a five-hour set that included everything from Gorillaz tracks to The Clash covers. While leading the crowd in a sing-along of The Clash's "Should I Stay or Should I Go" and chants of "More!," a security guard literally picked up Albarn and carried him off the stage. The set ended around 4 a.m. You can watch fan-recorded video of the incident on YouTube.
The Roskilde Festival also featured performances from Muse, Paul McCartney, and Florence + the Machine.
We'll have to see if Albarn's run-in with security affects his stage presence when he's on tour with Blur, who earlier this year put out The Magic Whip, their first album since 2003. The tour includes two stops in the U.S. -- one in Los Angeles and one in New York City -- this October.
