Before he played Washington, D.C.'s massive RFK Stadium with Foo Fighters July 4, Dave Grohl made a quick pit stop. He joined original Pearl Jam drummer Dave Krusen to perform covers of The Rolling Stones and Neil Young at a local motorcycle rally Saturday, according to Alternative Nation. The performance marks a rare instance where the drummer on Nevermind shared the stage with the drummer on Ten.
Joining Grohl and Krusen for the performance were Blind Melon guitarist Christopher Thorn and Foo Fighters keyboardist Rami Jaffee. You can watch fan-recorded footage of the group playing Young's "Cinnamon Girl" now on YouTube.
During the short morning performance, Grohl played while sitting in a folding chair, with his healing leg propped on another folding chair -- a much different sight than the guitar-adorned throne that he sat atop during the Foos' RFK show. In a fan-recorded video from the stadium concert, Grohl explains the origin of the RFK show throne, saying that he was "High as a f**king kite" when he came up with it.
Foo Fighters' massive tour in support of their latest album, Sonic Highways, continues July 8 in Toronto.
