Dave Grohl Says “There Is Going to Be Another ‘Sonic Highways’ Season”

Roswell Records/RCA RecordsDave Grohl has confirmed that the Foo Fighters documentary series Sonic Highways will continue. In a video interview with NME, the Foo frontman revealed that "there is going to be another Sonic Highways season," but he doesn't know when or where the next season will take place.

"It might or might not be international," Grohl says of a potential second season. "It might some day be international, it might only be England, or be England and other places. Or maybe it's places in America, and people from other countries that are inspired by these places in America."

"The great thing about the idea, the concept of the project, is that it can be anywhere because every city has some sort of musical history," he continues. "Of all places in the world England and the U.K. just seems like it would be like shooting fish in a barrel."

While Grohl certainly enjoyed the first go-round of Sonic Highways, which premiered on HBO last October, he admits that he felt "exhausted" after doing the series, especially since it was tied to the release of a new Foo Fighters album -- also called Sonic Highways -- and a world tour. While he sometimes worries about giving "another year-and-a-half of my life" to another Sonic Highways series, Grohl says "I'm sure it will happen. I just don't know when."

The first season of Sonic Highways followed the Foo Fighters as they traveled to eight cities in the U.S. while recording the Sonic Highways album. In each episode, Grohl would interview different luminaries who represented the music of their city. The first season of the Sonic Highways series is now available on Blu-ray and DVD.
