Depeche Mode Searches for “Revolution” on New Single

Columbia RecordsAs promised, Depeche Mode released their new single "Where's the Revolution" Friday morning. The track carries a heavy synth line and political overtones, and you can listen to it now on YouTube.

"Where's the Revolution" is the lead single from Depeche Mode's forthcoming album Spirit, which will be released March 17.

"I wouldn't call this a political album," frontman Dave Gahan tells Rolling Stone. "Because I don't listen to music in a political way. But it's definitely about humanity, and our place in that."

"We called the album Spirit, because it's like, 'Where's the spirit gone?' or 'Where's the spirit in humanity?'" he adds. "We considered calling it Maelstrom -- that was a bit too heavy metal."

Depeche Mode will embark on a global tour this year in support of Spirit starting May 5 in Stockholm. North American dates will be announced shortly.
