David Draiman recently told Revolver that "95 per cent of the songs I've written in my life, I've written them while high," and Disturbed's latest song, "Fire It Up," pays tribute to his writing method.
The track begins with Draiman taking a hit from a bong before launching into the marijuana-inspired song, which features lyrics such as "When I take a puff from the leaves of the devil, and it carries me onto the other side." You can listen to "Fire It Up" -- and watch the pot leaf-adorned lyric video -- now on YouTube.
In the Revolver interview, Draiman says that marijuana "helps me relax, and I can see the gaps. I can see the holes in the rhythm and the melody and I’ll know where I can go, and what the possibilities are. It helps me be able to perceive everything a little bit more clearly."
"Fire It Up" is the third song to be revealed from Disturbed's new album, Immortalized, following the title track and the lead single, "The Vengeful One."
Immortalized will be released on August 21.
