“Electric Love” artist Børns issues statement denying sexual misconduct allegations

Joseph Okpako/Getty ImagesIndie pop artist Børns, know for his single "Electric Love," has issued a statement denying accusations of sexual misconduct.

The allegations, which surfaced over the last week from Twitter users @alyssaadaniele and @kaliforxnia, accuse the artist, born Garrett Clark Borns, of emotionally manipulating and grooming them through social media messaging for years beginning when they were teenagers, leading to non-consensual sexual encounters.

"I am both hurt and angered over the disturbing and false allegations that have been spread over the past few days on social media," Borns said in his statement.  "All of the relationships I have had were legal and consensual," he continued. "They ended abruptly and that obviously caused hurt feelings, but for anyone to suggest anything behind that is irresponsible."

In responses to Borns' statement, @kaliforxnia wrote, "If you knew it hurt me & others, where is the apology?" "This hurts more than anything you've ever done," @alyssaadaniele added. "You couldn't even say sorry."
