Fall Out Boy Gives Muse Advice Ahead of Headlining Set at Download Festival

Credit: Danny ClinchMuse will play this weekend's Download Festival in England, but some feel like the band is not "metal" enough to headline the traditionally hard rock festival. Fall Out Boy, who encountered similar criticism when they played Download last year, has offered some advice to Muse ahead of their headlining set.

"Just play -- be Muse and play," Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman tells Gigwise. "I think the people who protest, the old metal guys who protest that they 'aren't metal', it's a very small faction -- it's a small voice. They probably protested us too."

"I think they'll do fine," Trohman continues. "They're a heavier band than we are and they've got tons of stoner rock riffs and stuff, they'll be fine with the metal heads. People just like to complain, that's what the Internet is for."

Fall Out Boy frontman Patrick Stump agrees, adding that Muse is "an excellent band."

"I would hate to play at the same time as them in that battle," Stump says. "The three-piece would destroy us."

Muse will headline Download Festival on June 13 in support of their new album, Drones. Other artists to play the 2015 Download Festival, which will be held June 12-14, include Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, KISS and Five Finger Death Punch.
