Fall Out Boy, No Doubt and My Morning Jacket will headline the inaugural Global Citizen Earth Day event, being held this Saturday at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The free concert extravaganza, which will also feature performances by R&B stars Usher and Mary J. Blige and the pop group Train, is designed to educate and inspire people to take immediate action, not only to solve climate change but to end extreme poverty.
"Anytime you're able to contribute or give something back it's important," Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz tells ABC Radio. "To us, I think that global poverty is something that you, as an American who's doing all right, don't often think about. When we travel around the world and get to see that, I think that it's something that we should all work towards ending."
If you can't make it out to D.C. for the festival, you'll be able to watch a YouTube livestream at GlobalCitizenEarthDay.org, and follow along via a live blog at GlobalCitizen.org.
Fall Out Boy will hit the road this summer on their Boys of Zummer tour, beginning June 10. My Morning Jacket, whose new album The Waterfall will be released May 4, will be touring starting in May.
