Fall Out Boy will be the first-ever inductees into the mtvU Woodie Awards' "Hall of Wood." The band will be honored at this year's awards ceremony, which will be streamed live from the South By Southwest festival.
"The Woodies are a part of Fall Out Boy's story, we've been together since the start and we're excited to be the first inductees into the 'Hall of Wood,'" Pete Wentz tells ETOnline. "It means a lot to us."
FOB won their first Woodie in 2004 when they took home the Streaming Woodie for "Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy," from their debut album Take This to Your Grave.
"No band embodies the spirit of the Woodies more than Fall Out Boy," says Gina Esposito, executive producer of the Woodie Awards. "They were among the first artists to win a Woodie as they went from playing dorm rooms to filling arenas. And through it all they've maintained their relevancy in so many meaningful ways with our audience."
This year's Woodie Awards will be hosted by Bleachers frontman and fun. guitarist Jack Antonoff. Nominees include MisterWives, Lorde, Big Data, and Bad Suns. The ceremony will be streamed live from SXSW via Woodies.MTV.com March 20 beginning at 5 p.m. ET.
