Now that July is here, we've reached the halfway point of 2015. The year has seen a number of big rock releases, including Fall Out Boy's American Beauty/American Psycho, which is one of the 10 best-selling albums of 2015 so far. The band's sixth record has sold 478,000 copies since it was released on January 20, which makes it the eighth best-selling album of the year in terms of pure album sales, according to the 2015 Nielsen Music U.S. Mid-Year Report.
Using Billboard's equivalent album metric, which combines traditional album sales with streaming and digital track sales, American Beauty/American Psycho moved 813,000 equivalent album units, which is the 10th best figure of 2015 to date.
In terms of individual song sales, both WALK THE MOON's "Shut Up and Dance" and Hozier's "Take Me to Church" made the top 10. "Shut Up and Dance" was the sixth best-selling song with more than 2.1 million in sales, while "Take Me to Church" takes eighth place with more than 1.9 million sales.
As for vinyl records, Arctic Monkeys' AM is the third best-selling LP of the year, even though it was released in 2013. After being 2014's second best-selling vinyl record behind Jack White's Lazaretto, AM has sold an additional 27,000 copies on vinyl this year. Other rock albums to notch top-10 vinyl records in 2015 include Alabama Shakes' Sound & Color at number four with 25,600 copies, Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon at seven with 22,600 copies and Hozier's self-titled debut at 10 with 21,400 copies.
