ABC/Fred LeeFall Out Boy will kick off a North American arena tour tonight, October 20 in Cleveland in support of their forthcoming new album Mania. As with their last few records, Mania finds the band once again tinkering with their sound, and bassist Pete Wentz says that will be reflected in the tour's production.
"Visually, it's gonna be a completely different stage setup [from past tours]," Wentz tells ABC Radio.
On the music side, Fall Out Boy will be playing a number of Mania songs on the tour, including the EDM-heavy "Young and Menace," though Wentz feels that track in particular will take on a new personality on the live stage.
"I think our band's always been a little bit heavier live than the recordings have been," he says. "I think we'll do...different kind[s] of incarnations of some songs, I think we'll probably do 'Young and Menace' a little bit different than the recorded version."
Along with "Young and Menace," Fall Out Boy has released two other tracks from Mania -- "Champion" and "The Last of the Real Ones" -- and they plan on debuting another on tour.
Mania, which was originally scheduled to arrive in September, will be released January 19.
"One of the other Mania songs we're playing is really just kind of rock-band based," says Wentz. "I think we'll play that song and it'll be very similar to the final recording people hear."
