“Fame Is an Illness,” According to Royal Blood

Credit: Eliot Lee HazelAfter spending their summer opening for Foo Fighters, one of the most famous rock bands on the planet, Royal Blood, has accumulated a fair bit of fame themselves. However, don't expect the U.K. duo to change because of their success.

"Fame is an illness really," bassist and vocalist Mike Kerr tells the BBC. "Once you get past all that you get to hang out with real people who are up for a good time and don't want to be seen as that."

As for Foo Fighters, Kerr describes Dave Grohl and company as "very" friendly in spite of their massive fame.

"There's no social barrier because they're famous," he says. "We hung out with them a lot and they were really very hands on with looking after us and making us feel welcome and comfortable."

After they finish their run with the Foos, which wraps up September 8 in Scotland, Royal Blood will launch their own U.S. headlining tour September 24 in Santa Ana, California.
