Florence + the Machine will play England's Manchester Arena September 18, which is the same day Great Britain was supposed to take on Australia in the semi-finals of the Davis Cup tennis tournament in the same venue. We use the past tense because the Davis Cup will now be held in a different arena after failing to convince Florence + the Machine's team to reschedule the concert.
According to the BBC, the Lawn Tennis Association had "several conversations" with Florence + the Machine's agent but was told that the band's show at the 20,000-capacity Manchester Arena would not be rescheduled. The Davis Cup is now expected to be held in Glasgow.
Florence + the Machine's Manchester Arena show is part of the band's U.K. tour, which begins in September. After Florence Welch's trek through her home country, she and the Machine will be touring the U.S. starting October 9 in Nashville.
