Florence + the Machine appeared on Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series Friday to perform tracks from their new album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, which most pundits agree is heading for a number-one debut on the Billboard 200 album chart.
When asked to describe the album, singer Florence Welch said it's not easy: "When you're making it you're kind of figuring out what it means to you as it's going along," she said. "So I guess I don't know, it can mean anything to anyone. It definitely is very personal to me."
Welch is known for getting quite physical on stage, and injured her foot jumping during a performance at Coachella. She told GMA she's on the mend. "I haven't quite tried, like, fully jumping up and down on it but they've given me some stairs today," she said.
Florence's foot should be fine just in time for more road performances: the band also announced nine new fall tour dates this morning, beginning with a show in Austin, Texas October 11. Tickets go on sale Friday, June 12, with American Express card members able to snag them beginning Tuesday morning, June 9th. Look for Florence + the Machine to also play Lollapalooza, Glastonbury and Bonnaroo. More info's available at FlorenceandtheMachine.net.
