Foo Fighters rarely perform encores, but when they do, you can expect something special to happen. At Wednesday night's show at Citi Field in New York City, the Foos returned to the stage after a 26-song set with Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith to perform a cover of Faces' "Stay With Me." You can watch fan-recorded footage of the Red Hot Foo Fighters on YouTube.
"Some of you people, you know that the Foo Fighters, we don't do encores, we never do encores," Dave Grohl said before introducing Smith. "But we got Chad from the f****** Chili Peppers!"
"He truly is one of the greatest rock n' roll drummers in the world," added Foo drummer Taylor Hawkins, who handled lead vocals on "Stay With Me" while Smith sat behind the kit.
Foo Fighters will play Citi Field again tonight, July 16. The band's massive summer tour continues with a two-night stand in another baseball stadium, Boston's Fenway Park, July 18 and 19.
