Credit: Hayley MaddenThe dream of the Rockin'1000 has finally come to fruition. Over the summer, 1,000 people gathered in Cesena, Italy to simultaneously perform the Foo Fighters 1999 single "Learn to Fly" in an effort to persuade Dave Grohl and company to play their hometown. Tuesday night, the Foos did just that.
The band opened the show with "Learn to Fly," of course. During their performance of "Big Me," Grohl gave a speech thanking the Rockin'1000 players. "To see you people singing our song for the whole f****** world, to me, it was the greatest moment of my life," said Grohl. "Of course we couldn't say no, we had to come. You trapped us, we had to come here." You can watch fan-recorded footage of the speech on YouTube now.
After the show, Grohl played an impromptu jam session with a few members of the Rockin'1000.
Foo Fighters are currently on tour throughout Europe.
