Sergione Infuso/Corbis via Getty ImagesA day after leaving the band, former Kasabian singer Tom Meighan has now pleaded guilty to assaulting his ex-fiancée, Vikki Ager, BBC News reports.
On Monday, the U.K. rockers announced that Meighan, an original member of the group, was parting ways with Kasabian due to unspecified "personal issues."
According to BBC News, Meighan admitted to the charge during a hearing at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The court was told that, on April 9, Meighan had thrown Ager across the room, causing her to hit her head on a hamster cage. He then "grabbed her leg, struck her on the head and threatened to hit her with a wooden pallet," BBC News reports. Prosecutors also said Meighan "smelt heavily of intoxicants" as he attacked Ager.
The judge gave Meighan an 18-month community order and 200 hours of community service. He also needs to complete five days in rehab.
In their statement Monday, Kasabian wrote, "Tom has struggled with personal issues that have affected his behavior for quite some time and now wants to concentrate all his energies on getting his life back on track."
"We will not be commenting further," the band added.
