Green Day Guitarist Jason White Diagnosed with Tonsil Cancer

Image Courtesy of ABC/Fred LeeGreen Day guitarist Jason White has been diagnosed with tonsil cancer. The band posted a statement on their website on Friday that the cancer is treatable and that White is expected to make "a full and speedy recovery."

"Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery," the statement reads.  "Please join us in sending him love and positive healing vibes during this time."

White joined Green Day in 1999 as the band's touring guitarist during their tour in support of Warning, and has been touring with them ever since. He became an official, full-time member of the band in 2012, earning his first studio album credit alongside frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt and drummer Tre Cool on Green Day's ¡Uno!, ¡Dos! and ¡Tre! albums.
