Green Day's new single "Bang Bang" has reached number one on Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart. The track took just three weeks to ascend to the top spot.
While it didn't take very long for "Bang Bang" to reach number one, it's been a bit since Green Day ruled Mainstream Rock Songs. In fact, the band's last number-one single on the chart was 2009's "Know Your Enemy."
Green Day has also earned number-one singles on Mainstream Rock Songs with the American Idiot tracks "Holiday" and "Boulevard of Broken Dreams."
"Bang Bang" is the lead single from Green Day's forthcoming album Revolution Radio, which will be released October 7.
