Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan prefers to “keep the mystique” around potential new music

Marc Grimwade/WireImageGuns N' Roses bassist Duff McKagan is keeping things close to the vest about a possible new album from the reunited rock legends.

"I'd like to keep a certain of modicum of mystique to that whole thing," McKagan tells ABC Radio.

McKagan does confirm, however, that he's heard new material from frontman Axl Rose.

"Axl has a bunch of material that he has recorded," he says. "What I've heard, there was some pretty amazing stuff there."

As for any future Guns plans, such as more tour dates, McKagan teases, "Maybe I know some stuff," but isn't revealing anything concrete.

"I got to be careful about what I say, for sure," he says. "Because when you talk about Guns N' Roses, it gets out everywhere, and I think I'd rather just keep to mystique."

The most recent Guns N' Roses album, 2008's Chinese Democracy, featured Axl as the lone member from the band's original lineup. The band's last effort to feature McKagan and guitarist Slash, who both rejoined GNR in 2016, was the 1993 covers album "The Spaghetti Incident?".

Meanwhile, McKagan will release a new solo album titled Tenderness on May 31.
