Hozier surprises NYC commuters with subway performance

Jill KaplanHozier took people in the subway to church on Wednesday night.

In celebration of his new album Wasteland, Baby!, Hozier surprised New York City commuters with a performance at the city's Rockefeller Center subway station.

The Irish singer shared videos from the mini-concert, including clips of him singing “Almost (Sweet Music)” and “Movement” from the new album, as well as his signature hit “Take Me to Church.”

“Dropped in on some New Yorkers’ commute home tonight to perform a few songs from my new album in a quick subway session,” Hozier wrote on Instagram.

Tonight, he'll perform at the third annual Love Rocks NYC! benefit concert, at the Beacon Theatre in New York, along with Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart and Led Zeppelin legend Robert Plant, among other acts.

The concert raises money for the God's Love We Deliver charity, which provides nutritious meals to seriously ill people in the New York City area.
