Illness Forces Billy Idol to Postpone First Two Dates of His North American Tour

Credit: Michael MullerBilly Idol's North American tour in support of his new album, Kings & Queens of the Underground, was to have started Wednesday in New Orleans, but the trek's kickoff has been pushed back a few days because the pop-punk veteran has been battling "a pesky chest infection."

A message on Idol's website explains that the New Orleans concert and a show this Thursday in Atlanta have been postponed since Billy's doctors have ordered him to take a few days off to recover.  The tour now is set to get under way this Saturday in the Philadelphia suburb of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.

"I'm really disappointed to be missing everyone this week in the Big Easy and Atlanta," the singer says in a statement.  "I was excited for these gigs but want to make sure I can give you the full on Idol rock show you deserve.  Thank you for understanding while I get over this bug."

Fans holding tickets to the New Orleans and Atlanta concerts are being asked to hold on to them, as rescheduled dates are expected to be announced soon.
