Jack White donates $30,000 to turn Tulsa house into museum

ABC/Nicole WilderJack White is helping turn a storied building in Tulsa, Oklahoma into a museum.

According to the Tulsa World, the musician donated $30,000 to renovate the so-called Outsiders House. The home was a filming location for the 1983 film The Outsiders, based on the 1967 novel by Tulsa writer S.E. Hinton. That movie famously featured Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze and Diane Lane, when they were all young up-and-coming actors.

Running the campaign to turn the house into a museum is another musician: Danny O'Connor, also known as Danny Boy of House of Pain. White's donation helped meet the fundraiser's goal of $75,000.

"Jack White closed the thing and got it done," O'Connor tells the Tulsa World. "I have a feeling there's a brass plaque in order in the cement at that house pretty soon. What a guy. I couldn't think of a better person to come wrap this bow up, tie the loose ends up."

White is currently on tour behind his new solo album, Boarding House Reach.
