ABC/Nicole WilderJack White will be the keynote speaker at Making Vinyl, a music industry conference held November 6-7 in the musician's hometown of Detroit. The ex-White Stripes frontman will be speaking about the "astounding rebirth of the global record manufacturing industry."
White, of course, is a big proponent of vinyl: he has his own record label, Third Man Records, and earlier this year, he opened the Third Man Pressing record plant in Detroit's Cass Corridor neighborhood. Attendees of the conference will have the opportunity to go on a tour of the plant.
"Jack White is the perfect keynoter for Making Vinyl because he knows first-hand what it takes to set up a new vinyl factory," says Bryan Ekus, president of Colonial Purchasing Co-op, which is producing the conference.

Meanwhile, Third Man Records will release a new vinyl single featuring the U2 track "The Blackout" on November 24 for Record Store Day Black Friday.
Before that, White will be doing in-stores signings of his upcoming children's book We're Going to be Friends; he'll be in L.A. November 4 and New York City November 11. The book will be out November 21.
