Credit: Jo McCaugheyWhile The American Epic Sessions takes a look at the birth of recorded American music, it will make its world premiere in England. The documentary film, executive produced by Jack White, will premiere at the 59th BFI London Film Festival, held October 7-18.

In The American Epic Sessions, contemporary artists such as Beck, Elton John and Alabama Shakes will record music using re-created equipment from the 1920s. White's Third Man Records will also issue an album of the recordings on vinyl.

White produced The American Epic Sessions along with T Bone Burnett and actor Robert Redford. The trio also executive produced American Epic, a three-part documentary detailing how record companies scouts would travel America with recording machines in the 1920s in search of new talent.

The American Epic Sessions and American Epic will air on PBS in January 2016.
