Jack White’s Third Man Records Signs Deal with Book Distributor

"Third Man Books will continue in the manufacture and sale of beautiful things. Those things being books," say co-founders Chet Weise and Ben Swank in a statement. "Much like the identity of our multiple Grammy-winning record label, Third Man Books will be based on adventure, bordering on recklessness, yet bound by craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail."

Third Man Books plans to publish contemporary poetry, literary fiction, photography collections and biographies, which will all be accompanied by audio/visual components.

"While some may believe Third Man’s devil-may-care celebration of enduring artistry a recipe for twenty-first century disaster, Jack White, myself, and Chet Weise consider it natural," says Swank. "Many thought Third Man Records' dedication to the The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records Volume 1–2 project was borderline funny-farm, but we only saw it as necessary, and won a 2015 Grammy Award."

The Paramount Records collection won the Grammy for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package. White, who served as a co-art director on the project, also won a Grammy for Best Rock Performance for his single "Lazaretto."

If Third Man Records' work with vinyl is any indication, then Third Man Books should be a success. White's last solo album, Lazaretto, was not only the highest selling vinyl record of 2014, it was the highest selling vinyl record of the last 20 years.
