Credit: Jo McCaugheyThird Man Records is headed to Jack White's hometown. The former White Stripes frontman's record label is planning on opening a new store in Detroit this November.
The Detroit Third Man Records store will be located in the Cass Corridor neighborhood of the city, which is where The White Stripes held their first show, as well as being the home of White's high school. In a statement, White called Cass Corridor "the most inspiring area of Detroit for me as an artist and as a Detroiter."
The new space is set to open on November 27, which is Black Friday, or, as vinyl collectors refer to it, Record Store Day Black Friday. Given White's heavy participation in Record Store Days past, one might expect the Detroit store's opening to offer a lot of exclusive Third Man Records releases.
Third Man Records and its flagship store are currently headquartered in Nashville.
