The pairing of Korn and Rihanna may have seem like an unlikely mix, but guitarist James "Munky" Schaeffer says it worked. This summer, the band released a remix of the pop star's "B**** Better Have My Money," turning it into a full on metal rager. In a new interview with Louder Noise, the musician says the combination was perfect.
"She's a bada** b**** -- straight up -- and to have these two worlds put together seems odd, but it oddly works," he ssays. " I think she's a metalhead, you know. She definitely has a metalhead edge about her, her lifestyle."
The guitarist has not met Rihanna yet, but can't wait to get "her take" on what the group did with her song.
"I'm sure I will soon," he said. "It was fun to do."
In other news, the group is working on a new album. Munky says the band has demos, not full songs, and about "twenty ideas" ready to go "It's a good start -- good enough for us to get in the studio and start recording it and shaping it," he says.
As previously reported, Korn is celebrating its 20th anniversary tour in the U.S. this fall. The month-long trek will begin October 1 in Chicago and will wrap up October 30 in Oakland, California. The group will perform their 1994 debut in its entirely for the dates.
