Korn’s New Album Will Be “More Guitar-Focused” and “Technical,” Says Head

Image Courtesy of Prospect ParkNow that Korn has completed the last leg of their 20th anniversary tour, the band will shift their focus to their new album. In an interview with Alternative Press, guitarist Brian "Head" Welch discussed the direction the record will take.

"It's gonna be a more guitar-focused record," Welch explains. "It's gonna be a little bit more technical, for Korn anyway."

The new album will be Korn's second with Welch back in the band following his return after an eight-year hiatus. Welch believes that regaining that chemistry with his band mates, specifically fellow guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer, will have a great influence on the sound of the album.

"Me and Munky stopped playing together for eight years when I was gone," says Welch. "We did the last record [2013's The Paradigm Shift], and we just clicked and it was awesome. But to me, we've gotten used to each other again."

"We're exactly where we want to be as guitar duo brothers," he adds.

As for when you'll be able to hear the guitar duo brothers in action, Welch estimates the new album will be released in fall 2016.
