Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck is coming back to the big screen. The first fully-authorized documentary about Kurt Cobain will be returning to U.S. theaters August 7.
"Montage of Heck was designed to be experienced in cinemas," says director Brett Morgen in a statement. "We are thrilled that U.S audiences will now have an opportunity to experience the film as it was meant to be felt."
To make Montage of Heck, Morgen was granted unprecedented access to Cobain's archives, including never-before-seen home movies, recordings, photos and artwork. Cobain's daughter, Francis Bean Cobain, is an executive producer on the film.
Montage of Heck will be screened at the IFC Center in New York City, the ArcLight Hollywood in Los Angeles and other independent cinemas across the country. The film will also be released on Blu-ray and DVD in the fall. Check the film's Facebook page for updates.
