Darkroom/Interscope RecordsBillie Eilish has released a new song called "When I Was Older." The song, available now for digital download, was inspired by the Golden Globe-winning Netflix film Roma.
"When I Was Older," which the "You Should See Me In a Crown" artist wrote in collaboration with her older brother Finneas O'Connell, was recorded using sound effects from the movie.
"When we were composing the song, we wanted to write from within the narrative of the movie and the scenes that struck us the most from it," the duo says. "Having access to the sounds used in the film proved to be invaluable to help us convey this."
The track will appear on an upcoming album titled Music Inspired by Roma, curated by the film's director Alfonso Cuaron. The movie is based on Cuaron's childhood; it follows a live-in housekeeper who works for a middle-class family in Mexico City's Colonia Roma neighborhood.
