Credit: Pamela LittkyFall Out Boy has released their cover of The Jungle Book song "I Wan'na Be Like You (The Monkey Song)," which they recorded for the forthcoming We Love Disney compilation. In their version of the song, which you can listen to at RollingStone.com, Fall Out Boy gives orangutan King Louie's desire to be human a pop-punk edge.
"I think we wanted to come up with a song that not only we all loved but would translate and make sense as a Fall Out Boy song," bassist Pete Wentz tells Rolling Stone. "I think we interpreted it more as a rock song, which was more of a challenge than expected, but I think how it turned out is pretty interesting."
Wentz is obviously a big fan of The Jungle Book -- his first son's middle name is Mowgli, the name of main character in the film.
We Love Disney, which will be released on October 30, is a new album of modern artists tackling Disney classics. The compilation also features No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani giving her take on "The Rainbow Connection" from The Muppet Movie.
Fall Out Boy is currently touring Europe in support of their latest album, American Beauty/American Psycho. Next year, they will embark on their Wintour Is Coming North American tour alongside AWOLNATION.
